The Pursuit of Happiness
The Pursuit of Happiness was an interesting movie with Will Smith and his son Jaden before the boy released that queer little music video. The Bill of Rights makes it abundantly clear that there is an inalienable right for every man woman and child to chase personal happiness. This article should have been called in the pursuit of an obsession but I guess it’s too late now huh? Nowhere, like with the other rights, do they guarantee it. That is because there is no way that another man can guarantee your happiness. If you are looking for the next man to do that for you then kindly leave my blog, I do not have anything to tell you and prefer not to waste my time. Now that I am left with those that are ready to take control of their own happiness, I want to look at what the pursuit of happiness is and how you can attain it.
If you don’t have health then you do not have a thing. I do not care if you own half of Australia or you are the king of Spain. If you do not have health then you do not have anything. In Africa, where I stayed for almost a decade, there are certain countries that have endemic malaria. If you have never experienced malaria firsthand then I say Kudos to you, try and keep it that way. It is an illness that can start with something as simple as a sore throat and progress to debilitating aches, vomiting, diarrhea, and an intense fever within three days. I have caught it more times than I care to remember and every time I had it, I felt like I had never been healthy in my life. It’s in times like these that you really look around and take stock of your situation. The medicine to treat the infection is only about $2 but once you have it, no amount of money will hasten the recovery process.
That was just a simple example of the importance of health so for all of you misguided individuals that think the first thing in the pursuit of happiness is wealth, I’m really sorry to burst your bubble (not really, you need to wake up)! Take care of your temple we are only given one. Do not make the mistake of using your health to chase wealth then using your wealth to chase health. It the stupidest cycle I have ever seen and if that is what you are doing or planning on doing then stop while you are ahead. To ensure that you maintain your health then train your body in one way or the other every single day.
I lived in Atlanta for a number of years doing what I do best, make money. We were young at the time and resorted to some slightly questionable means to make this a reality. That notwithstanding, it was really really fun and I consider them some of the best and worst years of my life. Having large sums of money and more importantly getting this money too quickly and easily can ruin your chances at happiness.
Let’s say for example you are twenty five years old and you open your first online business. The product you are selling is an affiliate membership in a company that provides training for affiliates to recruit other affiliates (Kind of a funny business model but it has been proven to work and I am actually part of a lot of them $$$). Now you enter this business and your sponsor (the one who recruited you) is fortunately an experienced affiliate marketer and agrees to be your mentor because he likes you.
Your mentor quickly teaches you the tricks of the trade; how to generate traffic, the best keywords to target to find a customer in the right phase of the buying cycle, how to set up effective email scripts, etc. etc. Since you are smart and eager to learn (forgive me if I’m being presumptuous by calling you smart) you gain a pretty firm mastery of the business in a few weeks and after your second month you have grossed over $10,000. And after six months you did your best month ever at $50,000. What do you do? Invest in other businesses that will make your newly acquired fortune work for you? Not likely at twenty five, you go off and start buying cars, clothes, and even houses; the beautiful women come fast and thick. After eighteen months of being an online marketer, you are addicted to multiple drugs let’s just say coke, weed, and beer, you are tottering on the edge of depression, and suicidal thoughts are you normal friend.
This of course, is an extreme example and I’m not saying that it is not good to be a very wealthy man, I am a testament to the pursuit of wealth. What I am saying is that in order to be truly happy with the wealth you acquire, you need to do it in a certain manner. Geometrical progression as opposed to exponential progression is a safer bet if you are looking to build wealth that will
1. Help you be a happy man
2. Help you sustain the wealth for the long term
Avoid get rich quick schemes and avoid the people selling them even more. An online business has plenty of upsides but the downsides can be tremendous as well. I want to recommend a resource to you called The Millionaire Brain, it’s a pretty cool product that will get you in the right mindset to tackle the new and improved pursuit of happiness you are about to start.
To recap, wealth is good but it is not the end all be all to happiness.
Purpose, zeal, passion, drive, motivation, or inspiration is what gives me a raging hard on when I talk about my dreams. My obsession is what allows me to put in twenty four hour days, sleep for two hours and get right back at it. Without a focus or a purpose, then all the things that you are doing to attain happiness will inevitably come to naught. This is what makes you happy or leaves you wondering how every other person was able to do it.
A unique purpose is something that you are able to chase with bull-like tenacity usually for an extended period. A purpose is not something that is here today and gone tomorrow like the latest trend in fashion or the like. A unique purpose will stay by you when you are married, have children, get divorced (hopefully you don’t), lose loved ones, travel the world, etc. etc. To put it simply, in makes life worth living. If you have not yet found it then look deep inside yourself and choose what you want to devote your life to, choose what will make you a legend, choose to SEIZE YOUR DESTINY.
If you can wake up in the morning and look into the mirror and say with complete conviction that you are doing everything in your power to achieve the unique purpose that brought you into the world then I say Kudos to you my friend, kudos to you, and welcome to the club. For the rest you you guys, find your own unique purpose and you will see that happiness is the last of your worries.
If you gain the world but lose any connection with it then what have you really accomplished through all your years of hard work? I firmly believe that your network is your net worth, the stronger you can make it then the stronger you become. All those army of one types are not going anywhere fast. At Indomitable Audacity, we believe in creating a brotherhood, a way to uplift your fellow man rather than pushing his head into the dirt. I know you have heard the phrase, show me your friends and I will show you who you are. If you have no friends then I guess this means you are nobody.
Relationships sustain us when we are down and out, used and abused, or unsure of ourselves. Relationships make the good times sweeter and the hard times more bearable but keep in mind that there are good relationships and toxic relationships. Selecting friends is something that I suggest you spend a fair amount of energy if not time on it because it is really such a large determinate of your personal success. If you do not spend any appreciable effort in this regard then be prepared to have yourself surrounded by low quality people. When you allow yourself to be surrounded by low quality people then you in turn become low quality (even if this is not really the case).
Choosing and cultivating the right kinds of relationships is not really as difficult as you may think. It is as simple as asking yourself, does this person add value to my life or id this person take value away from my life. If you can answer that question truthfully then you have all the information you need to decide whether this relationship will propel you further into the future.
One last thing on the pursuit of happiness, the fastest way to do that is to Chase your obsession everyday for the rest of your life. As long as you stay true to that ideal, nothing else will be too difficult for you .
The pursuit of happiness is what we are all engaged in from the first moment we are able to comprehend the word around us. From our first steps and our first laugh all we want to do is be happy and that is essential what we live our lives to attain. Happiness is not and will never be something someone else can give to us or take away from us. You are the only one with that power.Become a member of Indomitable Audacity today and become the man you were meant to be. No one can decide your fate but you so the only question is when the dust settles and the battle has been decided which side will you be on?
All that we are is the result of all that we have thought, the mind is everything, what we think we become
